Making Homemade Solar Panel

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Due to ongoing energy crisis, many people are beginning to look for alternative fuel sources to produce energy. The greatest alternative source of energy has ever known to man kind is the sun. Nowadays, use of solar energy to fulfill the daily energy demand at the houses is on the increase. But buying a solar panel can cost you some thousand dollars. So how about keeping the money in the pocket while fulfilling the energy requirement? Although energy produced by a homemade solar panel would be much less than a silicon panel. But it is evident that solar energy is the best way at solving our energy crisis. It is now possible for an ordinary person to create homemade solar cells. In this article I will tell you the very simple way of making homemade solar panel.

1. First of all take an evenly cut piece of copper plate. 2. Clean it thoroughly to remove any corrosion over the surface of the copper. You may use sand paper for the cleaning purpose.3. Wash the copper panel thoroughly with the water and then towel it to dry.4. Now place that copper piece on the flame and keep it for about 30 minutes until becomes red hot.5. A thick black layer of oxides should form on the copper sheet surface. Make sure not to leave the copper unattended while it cooks.6. Leave the copper to get cool. Remember, cupric oxide and copper cool at different temperature. Keep it for 30 minutes for the cooling.7. Remember, during the process of cooking hot cupric oxide flames might fly, so be careful and not get close to it or leave anything particularly flammable nearby.8. Wash the copper carefully in plain water to get most of the black pieces off. We only need the red layer of cupric oxide that is formed beneath the layer of cupric oxide.9. Now take the cooked copper sheet and another uncooked sheet and fit them into the plastic bottle, bend each outward as no part of the two sheets touch each other.10. Clip one of the alligator leads to the tops of each of the sheets and connect them to your meter.11. The positive terminal of the meter should connect to the uncooked sheet. The negative terminal should connect to the cooked sheet.12. Dissolve a couple of tablespoons of salt into a few cups of water. Pour it into the plastic bottle so the water level is about an inch short of the sheets’ tops.13. Place the bottle out in the sunlight and watch the meter. It should steadily rise to as much as fifty micro-amps. Put the bottle in the shade and the meter should drop to less than ten. You have made your own solar cell. This is really a simple method of making a solar cell. For more tips on how to build your own solar panel, click on the link mentioned below.

What Are Homemade Solar Panels

Homemade solar panels are appearing on rooftops more than ever before. With tons of books and information about building DIY solar panels, hobbyists are more equipped to generate electricity from the sun. And there are more of them around than before. Amateurs start with small projects that power garden lights and automatic gate openers while experts challenge themselves to build grid-tied solar power generators that supply their household with energy.

The promise of cheaper and greener energy lures many folks — amateurs and experts alike — to roll up their sleeves and build their own solar power generator.

In many people’s mind, homemade photovoltaic panels are often perceived as cheap, fragile or makeshift. This is understandable. Without big brand names behind our handicraft, do-it-yourself solar panels are often misunderstood as temporary setups that may break before the week is over.

What people fail to notice is that photovoltaic cells found inside our solar panels are actually reliable units of solar generators manufactured by corporations that adopt world-class production processes.

A DIY hobbyist only puts various components together to make a system that generates sufficient solar-generated energy to run electrical appliances. The reliability of the system lies largely on the photovoltaic cells.

Although it requires a little knowledge on how to use simple tools and constructing simple electrical circuits, building a homemade solar panel is really one of the simplest DIY projects around.

To build a DIY solar panel, the hobbyist builds a shallow, wooden box that provides structural support to house all the necessary components. Then a masonite or acrylic substrate is prepared to attach the solar cells on before they are all placed at the base of the shallow box. Finally, he use a piece of glass or plexiglass to cover the box. This protects the components from outdoor elements such as precipitation and snow. When necessary, direct current is converted to alternating current — using an inverter — to supply household appliances with the correct type of power.

Those of us who aspire to build a simple homemade solar panel can do so within a weekend even if we have no prior experience making one. This is provided we have basic DIY skills to fabricate simple parts as described above to house the components.

There are, however, a few pitfalls that can cause our homemade solar panel project to come to a screeching halt. Hence it is important to seek advice and supervision from another hobbyist who has more experience. Alternatively, you can also get a reliable guide to show you the steps and pitfalls to building homemade solar panels.

What You Need to Know About Homemade Solar Panels

Budget conscious people who may be interested in solar power producing panels may now have them without fear of paying thousands and thousands of dollars. The said panels, after, can cost up to $40,000. Nowadays, you can resort to homemade solar panels that produce electricity through low temperature as well as direct sunlight, and do not require a big amount of money.

Out in the market today are numerous solar panel kits that come with minimal costs yet can be const effective. Aside from buying kits, there are also other methods shared by experts that enable people to build their own panels. By having your own solar panels, you get to enjoy lower electricity charges because of the fact that you are able to provide power of your own.
There are two types of panels that provide solar energy: one is a panel that brings about energy through heat, while the other gives off electrical energy. The first one is mainly used for water heating purposes e.g. for cooking, in hot springs, etc. Heating is made possible when the sun’s radiation is converted into heat energy. The second solar panel type, on the other hand, works by transforming light into the electricity we need in our household.

The said panel is also known as a photovoltaic panel which is more often than not placed on the roof. Remember this: the more electrical energy you need, the more panels that you may add.
An effective panel is comprised of a group of solar cells that each emits electricity. Proper electricity emission from the solar cells requires facing the rays of the sun directly. When panels do not face the sun directly, electricity may not be produced.

Building panels producing solar energy is not really that difficult. For one, the panel kits being sold more often than not contain complete materials needed to build solar panels. A solar power producing panel may be made for as long as there are materials like an iron used for soldering, solar cells, the so called tabbing, and the flux. The kits also have step by step instructions on how a person can construct his own panel.

Putting up solar panels at home usually does not require you to hire a professional. Just by simply applying the detailed steps found in the kit, you will be able to build your own panels. In the event that you still have some questions, or if there are still instructions that are not clear, a good idea is to search over the Web and join forums that focus on do-it-yourself solar panels.

If you are looking for an effective method of saving money, why not try homemade solar panels? Through them, you get to have electricity at a cheaper cost. They are also environment-friendly, which means that those panels do not only benefit people, but also Mother Earth. Lower expenses, eco-friendly electricity, and a reliable source of energy—all these are found in solar panels, surely the best way to survive in a crisis-filled planet.
